Private Skills

Mark a skill private on your machine today, hidden from public search. This is a single-device, Team-tier setting — not a shared registry. If your whole team needs the same source of truth, see Private Registry instead.

What It Does

The publish_private MCP tool (Team tier) marks a skill private in your own local database. Once marked, it's hidden from your own community search results — it won't surface in search results alongside public skills.

It doesn't sync or share with your teammates. The setting is local to the device it was set on. If two teammates both mark the same skill private on their own machines, neither one sees the other's copy — there's no team-wide list, no shared storage, and no way to look up what a teammate has marked private.

When Team-wide Sharing Is What You Need

Private skills are a good fit for a personal proprietary workflow you don't want showing up in your own search results, but they're not a substitute for a real shared registry. For that — a store your whole organization publishes to and installs from, with versioning and team-scoped access control — see Private Registry (Enterprise tier).
